Proteas top-order batsman Colin Ingram will captain the seven-man South African squad for next month’s Hong Kong Super Sixes competition.
Ingram would be joined by other Proteas players in Rory Kleinveldt, Wayne Parnell and David Miller, Cricket SA (CSA) announced on Thursday.
Kleinveldt was a member of the team that won the Hong Kong Sixes in 2009.
Khaya Zondo, the only centurion in last season’s domestic T20 series, was included in the squad along with seam bowlers Dillon du Preez and Lyall Meyer.
“This is the strongest squad we have been able to select for this event since we won the Hong Kong tournament in 2009,” CSA selection convener Andrew Hudson said in a statement.
Hudson said they could not call on Titans or Highveld Lions players as both teams were competing in next month’s Champions League T20 tournament.
The squad would be coached by former Proteas assistant coach Vincent Barnes.
South Africa, who have won the Hong Kong Sixes three times since 1995, did not progress beyond the pool stages in last year’s tournament.
SA squad: Colin Ingram (captain), Dillon du Preez, Rory Kleinveldt, Lyall Meyer, David Miller, Wayne Parnell, Khaya Zondo.
