England all-rounder Ravi Bopara will play for the Dolphins during the upcoming domestic Twenty20 competition, the Durban franchise confirmed on Tuesday.
This will be the 27-year-old's second stint at the club after representing them in the one-day competition during the 2010/11 season.
“I am delighted to be joining up with the Dolphins for the T20 competition,” Bopara said. “Having played out in South Africa before I know the cricket is of the highest standard and I will be doing everything to make sure the Dolphins have a great tournament.”
The right-hander has played 123 times in T20 matches, scoring 2347 runs at a strike rate of over 100, while he also has 80 wickets.
He last played for England during the World T20 in Sri Lanka in 2012.
“It’s great to have Ravi back,” KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union (KZNCU) chief executive, Jesse Chellan, said. “He will add great value as an all-rounder and as a leader within the group.
“His experience will contribute immensely and add further depth to the Dolphins team.”
