Fred Couples moved to within a stroke of Bernhard Langer with a third round 64 to the German’s 66 to set up a final round showdown between the two former US Masters champions at the Senior British Open.
Couples says “Once I got going I didn’t miss many shots.”
Australian Peter Fowler (65) is two strokes behind Langer.
Langer, who won this title two years ago at Carnoustie, says “there’s a lot of guys in with a chance, so I know I’ll have to shoot one of the lower scores to win.”
Americans John Cook (66) and overnight leader Gary Hallberg (73) share fourth place with England’s Barry Lane (66), trailing Langer by four shots.
