Jari-Matti Latvala heads into Sunday’s final day of the Rally of Great Britain after strengthening his leading position in south Wales on Saturday.
The Finn won three more stages on Saturday after winning four out of a possible six on Friday to lead Ford team-mate Petter Solberg 24.5 seconds.
“The car was turning really well,” said Latvala on www.wrc.com.
“I’m not usually so good on these stages but this was a fast one and it seems to suit me quite well.”
Sebastien Loeb was third in his Citroen, 30.9 seconds behind Latvala.
The morning’s three stages did not greatly affect the standings but Latvala nonetheless managed to increase his lead over Norway’s Solberg after comprehensively winning stage nine.
Eight-time world champion Loeb, meanwhile, began to show his teeth, closing on Solberg after taking the honours in the eighth stage.
Norway’s Mads Ostberg is in fourth place.
