A team's mascot has been suspended for two home matches for making obscene gestures to opposition fans.

Ceara's "Grandpa" mascot was suspended on Tuesday after making the gestures to fans from Ferroviario in a match on Sunday.

Local media reports that Ceara are also expected to punish the person who was inside the mascot costume.

Ceara were relegated from the Brazilian first division last year but are one of the most famous clubs in northeastern Brazil.

I think the club must leanve the poor oke alone..blame it on the mascot, clearly the guy was under the influence. We are prone to do something stupid once locked inside a mascot; there should be no morals for mascot, since a mascot is only imaginary. The person inside is being controlled by the mascot. So, I plead not guilty for the guy inside the mascot..the mascot must stand trial!
