The Bulls front rower, Frik Kirsten, extended his contract with the franchise until October 2015, the Blue Bulls Company (Pty) Ltd confirmed on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old prop has established himself in the Pretoria franchise’s squad this year, having made 11 Super Rugby appearances in Super Rugby.
Kirsten’s ability to pack down both sides of the scrum making him a valuable member.
“Frik has grown tremendously as a player over the last couple of years and especially after coming back from his neck injury,” Bulls coach Frans Ludeke said in a statement from the union on Thursday.
“He has impressed all with his efforts at Super Rugby level.
“He is definitely a player to watch for the future and we are delighted for him to stay on.” Kirsten said he was happy to remain with the only side he has represented at top level.
“I have played all my rugby for the Blue Bulls and Bulls team since school and they supported me during my time out with injury,” said Kirsten.
“I believe the future is bright with this franchise and I would like to be part of their vision of performance and achievement.”
