The New Zealand Rugby Union (NZRU) have confirmed it's been made aware of an alleged rape claim in South Africa, involving a Junior All Blacks player.
It follows a report in South African media that police are investigating a rape claim, following the Baby Blacks' loss to the Baby Boks in the Junior World Championship final on Friday.
"We are investigating a case of rape after a 22-year-old Cape Town woman alleged she was raped," said national police spokesman Vish Naidoo.
"It is alleged the rape took place during the course of Friday night."
NZRU General Manager of Professional Rugby Neil Sorensen says an issue was raised by police in Cape Town before the New Zealand Under-20 team left South Africa.
He says the team and management cooperated fully with police, after which they advised they were happy for all members of the team to travel home.
