Chiefs flank Sam Cane, the All Blacks hero against Ireland in Hamilton, has been sent back to the bench for Friday's Super Rugby hit-out with the Highlanders.
The impressive young loose forward, who scored two tries in last weekend's 60-0 demolition of the Irish, makes way for Tanerau Latimer.
Latimer has recovered from a knee injury that forced him to miss the Chiefs' last outing before the June break (the 41-34 win over the Blues), and takes his place at openside flank.
In other team news, All Blacks pivot Aaron Cruden has recovered from an Achilles problem to his place in the Chiefs' starting line-up for the derby clash in Dunedin.
Other All Blacks returning for the Chiefs are Sonny Bill Williams, Liam Messam, Brodie Retallick and Hika Elliot who has been named on the bench. Tim Nanai-Williams returns from injury to play on the wing.
