It appears likely Ben Franks has played his last game for the Crusaders, as the All Blacks prop eyes a move to the Highlanders.
The 28-year-old, who can play either side of the scrum, wants a release a year early after falling behind Wyatt Crockett and brother Owen in the pecking order at the franchise.
He's expected to move to Dunedin if given the green light by his current Super Rugby franchise.
"Where these guys are in their careers, it's probably a good thing for Ben to get a start every week. I can understand why he's thinking like that," said Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder.
"He's probably going to be on the bench if we don't rotate because he is our third prop."
