SPRINGBOK coach Heyneke Meyer wants to see an all-South African Super 15 final and expects locals to reach the play-offs of the competition, which starts tomorrow.

Meyer yesterday admitted it was too early to say how he expected the Bulls, Stormers, Sharks, Cheetahs and Lions to fare in this year's tournament .

"I want an all-South African final this season. If that happens it will be better for the national side as we saw in 2007 when South Africa won the World Cup.

"We had the Bulls and the Sharks playing in the final that year. I have a lot of confidence in the teams, coaches and players.

" I would also be very happy to see all the teams reach the playoffs this year. It will be tough, but I know they are all capable of doing that. Although the sides may have a slower start in the competition, they will be much fitter after getting enough rest."

Having watched South African Super 15 teams' pre-season friendlies over the past month, Meyer conceded he was happy with players' fitness levels and conditioning after the break.

"After the lengthy season last year and following the World Cup, I was a bit concerned about what condition the players would be in when the season resumed. I've been impressed with what I've seen - the players are fit and in good condition, especially given the long season," he said.

Meyer has been in the position of Boks head coach for a month now, but there is still no clarity on the appointment of his coaching staff nor the captain.

"We are still holding meetings about the coaching staff, but that announcement will not be made in the immediate future," he said.

Meyer said there were no immediate plans to hold a camp for his first Bok side, but that would have to wait until the appointment of his assistants.

The Boks open their 2012 fixtures on June 9 with a test against England in Durban.
