Arsenal are leading the race to sign highly-rated striker Olivier Giroud according to Montpellier coach Rene Girard.
Numerous clubs are after France international Giroud's signature following a prolific season in Ligue 1 where he netted 25 times to secure the title for Montpellier.
It is understood Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is a long-term admirer of the 25-year-old and is eager to have him in North London next season.
The Ligue 1 champions are reluctant to let him go but Girard concedes the player is likely to move to the Emirates if a deal is agreed with the South of France club.
"Arsenal are very interested and Giroud wants to play in England, if Arsene [Wenger] agrees with the president [Louis Nicollin], he will sign for them", Girard told French radio station RMC.
Giroud is currently with the French national team at Euro 2012 and the frontman is expected to come to a decision on his future after the tournament.
