Bale 'too expensive' for Barca

Gareth Bale's agent has dismissed reports claiming Barcelona have tabled an offer for the winger, stating Tottenham's asking price of £40million is over and beyond what the Catalans are willing to pay.
The Wales international has been strongly linked with an off-season move to the Nou Camp as Barca look to strengthen their options down the left flank following a below-par campaign in La Liga and Europe.
However, Bale's representative, Jonathan Barnett, says there has been no contact from the Spanish juggernauts regarding the midfielder, and that they look likely to instead pursue Valencia's Jordi Alba.
"I think it's too expensive for the club," Barnett said. "To my knowledge, the club [Barcelona] has not made any offer for him.
"If interested, they would have to put money on the table and then start talking. But it seems that the club is working on the signing of Jordi Alba, a cheaper option."
Spurs will have a new manager at the helm next season after they confirmed Harry Redknapp from his role this week.
