A Swiss judge says she’ll give a ruling within one week in FC Sion’s civil court fight with UEFA to win back its place in the Europa League.

By seeking time to reach a verdict, the judge ensured that Celtic will host Udinese on Thursday.

Sion beat Celtic in the playoff round last month before being expelled by UEFA for fielding ineligible players signed in breach of a transfer ban.

Sion says its lawyers and UEFA presented their full arguments for nearly four hours Tuesday in a cantonal (state) civil court which previously awarded the club an interim ruling to be reinstated.

UEFA ignored that ruling and gave Celtic approval to face Atletico Madrid two weeks ago. Celtic lost 2-0 in Spain.

The group also includes Rennes.
