Bayern dismiss Pirlo reports
Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has scoffed at reports linking his club with an attempt to sign Italy international Andrea Pirlo.
According to reports in Italy, Bayern had tabled an offer of 10million euros for the Juventus midfielder, who was instrumental in the Azzurri's Euro 2012 campaign and one of the standout performers at the tournament.
However, Rumenigge says the speculation is baseless and lack any substance whatsoever.
"FC Bayern have neither made an offer to Juventus, nor have FC Bayern had any contact with the player or his agent," he said in a statement published on the Bundesliga club's website.
The Bavarian giants have been busy this transfer window, securing the signatures of Xherdan Shaqiri, Dante, Claudio Pizzarro, Tom Starke, Lukas Raeder and Mario Mandzukic for next season.
