AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri hailed the 3-0 victory against Palermo that has helped his team start climbing back up the  Serie A table.

Antonio Nocerino, Robinho and Antonio Cassano scored the goals, but more importantly for Milan they are now moving away from the relegation zone and getting their season back on track following just one win in their first five matches.

And Allegri admitted that Inter Milan’s 2-1 defeat at Catania, alongside Napoli’s shock home loss to Parma by the same score, were  an added bonus.

“I think everyone played well. It was only at the beginning that  we didn’t manage to stretch the game as we subsequently did,” said Allegri.

“For us, regardless of the results of others, which we’re happy about, it was important to get back to winning ways in a convincing  way because we need to claw back the points we lost earlier this season.

“This allows us to climb up the table given that it’s a long season. We’re finding good physical condition and that’s going to help us in this intense month.

“Tonight everyone knew how important the match was.

“We were tired in Turin (where they lost 2-0 to Juventus two weeks ago) but we also played badly tactically and were too chaotic  at the back and we didn’t do enough with our quality.”
