AC Milan have re-signed Mathieu Flamini on a one-year deal just days after the French midfielder was released by the Serie A club.
The 28-year-old, who managed just two league appearances for the Rossoneri last season due to a serious knee injury which required surgery, left the San Siro last week after his contract ran down.
Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani had claimed Flamini's "time has expired" to discuss terms on a contract extension, but the Italian giants have made a U-turn on their decision after handing the Frenchman another 12 months.
It is believed that the former France international has accepted a substantial pay-cut to stay on with Massimiliano Allegri's side next season.
The club confirmed the news in a statement which read: "Mathieu Flamini, Rossonero since 2008 and also next season."
