French government slams Ibrahimovic's 'indecent' salary
France’s Budget Minister Jerome Cahuzac on Thursday blasted as ”indecent” the salary of new Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The 30-year-old Swede is reportedly set to earn around 15 million euros (R150,3 million) after tax a year at the Qatari-owned club, making him the highest-paid player in the world.
“These figures are not impressive, they are indecent,” Cahuzac told Europe 1 radio, a day after PSG announced with great fanfare that it had signed the AC Milan striker and unveiled him to fans on the Champs-Elysees.
“They are indecent at a time when everyone in the world has to make an effort” Cahuzac added.
Sports Minister Valerie Fourneyron on Wednesday called Ibrahimovic’s salary “astronomical” and “unreasonable.”
