BAFANA Bafana star Thulani Serero apologised to his Ajax Amsterdam teammates after his red card on Sunday that brought to an end a memorable performance against Heerenveen for the youngster.
Serero became the fourth South African to score a brace of goals in the Dutch Eredivisie after Glen Salmon, Steven Pienaar and Benni McCarthy. But his afternoon was ruined by a straight red card for a late lunge on Filip Djuricic as the teams drew 2-2.
"It was certainly not my intention to hit him. I feel especially guilty and want to apologise to the team," Serero said.
His second goal was particularly excellent, collecting a long ball over the top of the defence, controlling well and providing a cool, composed finish.
Kamohelo Mokotjo was again on the bench for Feyenoord as they lost 1-0 at Vitesse Arnhem. The new Bafana squad member has yet to play a single minute of competitive football for the club this season.
Darren Keet came up against compatriot Ayanda Patosi as Kortrijk won 1-0 at Lokeren, the national Under-23 goalkeeper coming out on top.
Anele Ngcongca's injured knee meant he was missing for his side as they drew 2-2 at Anderlecht.
In Sweden, May Mahlangu's Helsingborgs lost 2-1 at AIK Stockholm, and Bradley Ralani's Landskrona lost 2-0 at Ljungskile.
