Three SA players set to leave Belgian club

THERE is a strong possibility that all three South Africans at Belgian side Lierse could exit the club at the end of this season.
Midfielder Daylon Claasen is almost certainly on his way out, with another excellent campaign in the Jupiler League having seen his star rise to the point where English club Queens Park Rangers were keen to take him in January, before work permit issues scuppered that deal.
There is plenty of other interest in the 22-year-old Bafana Bafana star as well, both from clubs in Belgium and outside the country.
Defender Siboniso Gaxa and utility player Lance Davids look set to follow suit, with a restructuring of the financial model at the team likely to see them exit.
"Both players still have one year remaining on their contracts after this season, but if the right deal came along I think the club would let them go," said the players' business manager, Rob Moore.
It is "too early" to say where their next destinations might be, with Davids already having had unsuccessful trials at new Major League Soccer franchise Portland Timbers.
