Santos recruit Matthew Pattison is eager to resurrect his career after falling out of favour at Sundowns.

The midfielder, who was recently on trial with Leeds United, joined the People's Team last month on loan after barely featuring this season under Brazilians boss Johan Neeskens.

And naturally Pattison hopes to make an impact in Cape Town.

"My goal is just to go there and play my normal game and hopefully I can be of good value to the team," he told the PSL's official website.

"With the players they have at the club, and with the new signings, Santos are definitely far better than what is being reflected on the log at the moment.

"They have some really good players, some top talent and a good depth and balance in the squad, I'm looking forward to being part of the set-up.

"I'm also excited to be in Cape Town. I've never had the chance to spend much time here, but have always wanted to.

"It's another world down here (compared to Gauteng) and I'm sure I'll enjoy it. I've only just arrived (on Monday), so once I have had some time to deal with the formalities, such as my medicals, I'm looking forward to visiting the beaches and some of the other attractions, when I get some time off from training."

Pattison has featured for English Premier League high-flyers Newcastle, an experience he clearly treasures.

"It was a great to play for the first team, to make my debut, especially after having come through the junior ranks, and also having had to battle two serious injuries," he said of his Magpies debut against Everton in 2006.

"Playing at a packed St James' Park is an amazing experience which I won't forget. The whole experience for me was really good. I felt I played well for Newcastle and the club were also going through a good patch at that time," said the 25-year-old.

Pattison also turned out for Norwich before signing with Downs in 2009, with a view to bettering his national prospects ahead of the 2010 World Cup. Pattison excelled domestically, winning the Nedbank Cup Player of the Year award, but missed out on Bafana boss Pitso Mosimane's World Cup squad.

Eish, i just don't know what these coaches want. This guy has been remarkable for Sundowns but they still bench him. This is absurd!!!
