Baloyi quits Sundowns job
FORMER Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Brian Baloyi has quit Mamelodi Sundowns where he worked as commercial and marketing manager.
“I will be pursuing business interests,” said Baloyi, who, after retiring as a player, was offered a job by Sundowns president Patrice Motsepe.
Although Baloyi insisted that he resigned and was not pushed, it is known that he had not been happy at Sundowns in the past few weeks.
“It’’s not true, I have decided to go into business with my wife through the foundation that I will be launching in the not so distant future.
“I have been planning to start the foundation about five years ago, but time was my big enemy because of my soccer commitments.
“Now that I have left soccer, I will have enough time to focus on the foundation where we will use sport as a vehicle to plough back into the community.
“Everything will start in Alexandra because that is where I started my soccer career started. I also want to make a meaningful contribution to the society.
“There is talent in abundance in Alexandra. As for Sundowns, I wish them the best of luck as a club to win trophies,” said Baloyi, who has also played for Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana.
Baloyi’s resignation was confirmed by Sundowns head of technical department Trott Moloto on the club’s website.
“Brian will continue to consult for Mamelodi Sundowns and will always be part of the Sundowns family,” Moloto said.
Moloto thanked Baloyi for the contributions he made to the club, both as a player and as part of management.
Baloyi thanked Motsepe for bringing him to the club as a player and for the opportunity to be part of the club management.
