SAFA start Bafana coach interview process
The South African Football Association have revealed the interviews for the Bafana Bafana coach's position, which were originally scheduled to begin on Wednesday, will now take place today.
Gordon Igesund, Gavin Hunt, Neil Tovey, Shakes Mashaba and Steve Komphela are the men in line for the job, although the latter will only conduct his interview after South Africa's friendly international against Gabon on Friday, as the Free State Stars tactician was appointed interim Bafana boss last month.
Domestic football's governing body, and more accurately their technical committee, will allocate two hours to each candidate for a presentation followed by interviews.
"It was a procedural decision that we took as the Technical Committee. We decided that all prospective coaches will each have a two-hour presentation followed by interviews, with the exception of Steve who is on national duty," technical committee chairperson Fanyana Sibanyoni said.
"We expect to start the interviews early in the morning and everyone should have gone through the process by 16h00."
He added: "We would like to appeal to the public to support the successful candidate because people will have their own preferred candidates. There is a huge diversity of opinion on this matter that is why I am appealing to the public to welcome whoever is selected as the new Bafana Bafana Head Coach."
