Bafana's Serero in fine form for Dutch side
BAFANA Bafana playmaker Thulani Serero continued his solid start to the pre-season with Ajax Amsterdam as he played another 45 minutes of football in the 5-0 win over BVO Emmen this weekend.
Serero netted in the midweek 11-0 thrashing of Odendaal, but more important than the goal was the 63 minutes of game time he was given by coach Frank de Boer, and his ability to prove his fitness.
Ajax will play two matches this week, on Wednesday against BV Veendam and VV Noordwijk on Saturday. Serero will be hoping to come through without injury.
Kamohelo Mokotjo was in action for the first time ahead of the new campaign as he played the second half for Feyenoord in their 3-0 victory over Sportclub Feyenoord, the amateur team of the club.
With less than three weeks to the start of the Belgian season Darren Keet put in a superb display for his Kortrijk side in their 2-1 friendly defeat to Cercle Brugge.
Keet is likely to get the No1 jersey at the club this season.
Ayanda Patosi has featured for Lokeren in pre-season and has been in scoring form. He played 90 minutes against Lierse in a 3-1 friendly win, with neither Daylon Claasen or Lance Davids seeing action for the latter.
Meanwhile, Bongani Khumalo will start training with his new PAOK teammates today after completing his loan move from English Premiership Tottenham Hotspur to the Greek club on Friday evening.
He could make his first appearance when they host Belgian side Mons in a friendly on Saturday.
