SUPERSPORT United are cleaning up their defence.
The Pretoria side yesterday completed the signing of Mor Diouf, the PSL's Mr Clean, on a three-year contract from Maritzburg United to add to a formidable rearguard.
Mario Booysen, from Matsatsantsa, will fill the void left by Diouf - who has excelled as a central defender for Maritzburg the past two seasons.
Diouf got through last season without a single red or yellow card.
He replaces Morgan Gould, who was suspended five times, and received two red cards and 10 yellow cards last season. Gould has since joined Kaizer Chiefs.
Diouf, 23, started in all of Maritzburg's 34 matches - making him the only player to have played every minute of every game for his club in all league and cup games last season.
"Gavin Hunt is a very experienced and goal-orientated coach and I admire the effort and dedication the players give during their matches. I am looking forward to meeting my new teammates. I am not going to predict much, but contending for a league medal is first on my list," said Diouf.
SuperSport coach Hunt had already started making changes in his back four before the Senegalese's arrival yesterday. The club lured Bevan Fransman back home from Israel and snatched Lucas Thwala from Orlando Pirates after he was placed on the transfer list by the treble champions.
Hunt's men were tied with rivals Sundowns and Chiefs as having the best defence in the league, conceding only 23 goals in 30 matches.
