Orlando Pirates full-back Thabo Matlaba admits he was "shocked" on receiving news of his maiden Bafana Bafana call-up.
Matlaba is in Gordon Igesund's squad to face five-time world champions Brazil in Sao Paulo on Friday - much to the 24-year-old's delight.
"To be honest I was shocked when I heard I was in the national team," Matlaba told his club's official website.
"I have to thank the chairman for giving me a chance to join such a great club and to have an opportunity to show what I can do.
"I am not getting ahead of myself thinking that this is it. The national team is made up of great players and for me being part of it is an honour.
"Responsibilities have doubled now and I hope all goes well for me in the team."
Matlaba, formerly at Free State Stars, impressed during Bucs' treble heroics last term - the player's first season in Mayfair.
