AFTER putting up a five-star performance to help Orlando Pirates end University of Pretoria's unbeaten run, Sifiso Myeni is ready to fight for a Bafana Bafana place.
Myeni is in the squad lined up to play international friendlies against Poland at Warsaw's new National stadium on October 12 and Kenya in Nairobi four days later.
Poland will use the match against Bafana as part of their preparations for the 2014 World Cup qualifier against England on October 16.
"It's a great honour to be called up to represent your country. I'm happy to be part of the new team that coach Gordon Igesund is building," said Myeni yesterday.
"I can't believe this is happening to me; a few months ago I was a spectator after sustaining an injury prior to joining Pirates from Wits.
"I am ready to play for Bafana. We have the Africa Cup of Nations coming next year and I also want to be part of that tournament.
"We have some good players in the team, so I will have to work hard to command a regular spot.
"We also have the remainder of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers coming. The coach has made it clear [that] there are no players who own the Bafana jersey - we must all fight for it," said Myeni.
