PSL dismiss Thanda appeal
The Premier Soccer League arbitrator has dismissed Thanda Royal Zulu's appeal against the National Soccer League, meaning the 2013/14 top-flight season will go ahead as scheduled.
Thanda had appealed the outcome of the 2012/13 National First Division play-offs due to league matches that were not played earlier in the season.
The case had threatened to render the results of the PSL promotion-relegation play-off null and void, while also leaving Polokwane City unsure of their NFD crown.
However, the PSL have denied the appeal, meaning Polokwane are officially promoted to the Premiership as NFD champions, joined by play-off winners Mpumalanga Black Aces, who saw off Chippa United and Santos to finish top of the table.
New PSL CEO Brand de Villiers welcomed the conclusion of the arbitration, saying: "We are relieved that this matter has been resolved and we can now focus on the start of the new season.
"Our priority right now is to plan for next week's Absa Premiership fixtures and the MTN8 competition."
The official fixture list for the new campaign will be released "in due course", with the season set to get under way on August 3.
