Barca in shock Drogba link
Barcelona have been linked with a surprise move for Didier Drogba despite the striker having just signed for Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua.
The Ivory Coast international ended his eight-year association with Chelsea last week when he sealed a lucrative switch to the Far East, reuniting with former Blues team-mate Nicolas Anelka in Shanghai.
However, reports have surfaced that a clause in his new contract stipulates Drogba may be granted a free transfer in the event that Barca were to make an approach for his services.
The 34-year-old is reportedly due to arrive in Catalonia on Tuesday to negotiate a possible transfer, but Spanish football correspondent Guillem Balague does not expect the deal to materialise due to Drogba's high wage demands.
"In Spain it is being reported that Didier Drogba is arriving tomorrow to Barcelona to sign for FC Barcelona," said Balague.
"Drogba has got a clause that allows him to leave Shanghai Shenhua for free if Barcelona came calling. He will meet the Spanish club tomorrow.
"Despite the meeting tomorrow, Barcelona club sources say they won't sign Drogba, wages too high."
However, Drogba's representatives have refuted claims that the veteran African ace is set to be snapped up by the Spanish giants.
"Drogba to Barca story complete nonsense. As we told you he joins Shanghai in July," the Sports PR Company tweeted.
