Barcelona have signed Manchester City's 19-year-old Spanish midfielder Joan Angel Roman ahead of next season.

The unsettled youngster failed to break into the Citizens' first team since his £1million move from Espanyol three years ago.

Talks with the Catalan club began last week with a deal having been agreed to on Wednesday.

Roman has now signed a three-year deal at Camp Nou and will initially link up with Barca's B side.

"Being in England for three years has helped me to mature a lot and to become physically stronger," the Spaniard said.

"I'm raring to start and start learning. When I heard Barca were interested in me, that was my priority.

"I can assure you that I'll work hard and give everything I can out on the pitch."
