Real Madrid midfielder Mesut Ozil is determined to impress for the Spanish champions this season.

Ozil faces increased competition for game-time from new arrival Luka Modric, but is confident he still has a key role to play at the Bernabeu.

"The football year has just started, but I feel good and I think I can keep improving. [Real Madrid] have a long season ahead of us and I want to be a very important part of it," he said.

The German ace's confidence is growing after netting a brace in his country's 3-0 World Cup qualifying win over the Faroe Islands on Sunday.

"The most important thing was the victory for the team, but I'm very happy with the two goals I scored," he said.

"I enjoyed being on the pitch and a game like this is good for me to keep building my confidence."

If Mesut Ozil wants to be one of the best in the world,(for me he is among the top 5 or 6 already ) he has to start taking shots when ever he finds opportunities like Ronaldo and Di Maria.

If the thinks scoring he will be a different player, specially when attacking from the right wing when he cuts in to the left, he always has a split second opportunity to take a shot at that moment. While assisting is fantastick, scoring is BETTER.
